Scrollback
Save what you want to read. Then actually read it — a forty-minute article becomes twelve pieces of about three minutes each.
A read-it-later app, the way you remember them
Share a link from your browser and Scrollback keeps a clean copy: no ads, no cookie banners, no newsletter pop-up covering the second paragraph. It works on the train, on a plane, anywhere with no signal. If you used Pocket, you already know what this is.
Pocket closed in 2025 and took a lot of reading lists with it. Scrollback is a place to put yours.
The part nobody else does
Long articles don’t go unread because they’re bad. They go unread because forty minutes never arrives.
So Scrollback offers to cut one into parts of about three minutes — split at real section boundaries, never mid-paragraph. You tick each part off as you finish it, and it picks up exactly where you left off. Twelve small things you can finish beats one big thing you won’t start.
- It always asks first. Nothing is ever split without you saying yes.
- Three minutes is just the default — set the part length and the threshold to whatever suits you.
- Prefer it whole? Say no once and it stays whole.
The rest of it
Made for reading
Five themes, five typefaces, your own size and spacing. Scroll down and the buttons get out of the way. Bold, links, lists and tables all survive the trip.
Honest numbers
Words read, time read, streaks, the sites you actually finish. A part only counts once it has genuinely been on screen — you can’t pad the numbers by tapping through.
Yours to keep
Tags, favourites, and search across the full text of everything you’ve saved. Export the lot as a single file whenever you like.
What it costs
Free. There’s a small ad at the bottom of the screen, and that’s what pays for it. Nothing is locked away, nothing expires, and there’s no trial to remember to cancel.
A paid version may follow later for people who’d rather not see the ad. If it does, everything described on this page stays in the free one.
